So, I've decided to keep showing some of the art in my sketchbook. This is actually my current WIP, I've been head over heels with the idea of a mermaid au for AbeMiha from Oofuri (good baseball anime btw). What I've noticed is how small it is in comparison to the others. Good news though, I've downloaded a photo editor on my phone so I'm not limited to snapchat dimensions. When I do have the opportunity to finish this, I'll put this into the scraps and provide a larger photo. But who really wants to read all this housekeeping notes?
On with the au, my friend has helped me with this mermaid/merman au for Oofuri when I was having trouble sleeping due to some stress. So here's a bit of what I have so far:
On with the au, my friend has helped me with this mermaid/merman au for Oofuri when I was having trouble sleeping due to some stress. So here's a bit of what I have so far:
• Mihashi is a prince of a small underwater kingdom. His grandfather, the sea king, used his status to enroll Ren to an exclusive wizardry school to learn how to make potions and control the weather regarding the sea. Only few merfolk can practice witchcraft and wizardry. The select few are employed by the monarchy to ensure that the sea population is kept in balance.
• Merfolk, eat fish but they are at a constant competition with the Fishing Village nearby.
• Mihashi's grandfather is protective of his grandson, Mihashi's parents had died due to a fishing accident. He doesn't approve of his grandson venturing close to the surface. Mihashi, on the other hand, is intrigued by the warmth and the brightness the surface has. He's often conflicted between his own interests and following his grandfather's wishes.
• Abe is from a long-line of fishermen. His whole life revolves around fishing. Most fishermen have warned him about the dangers of encountering merfolk and to be wary of their wrath and misfortune. However, his father doesn't believe that merfolk are a danger as long as you treat them with the same respect. His grandfather was saved by a kind mermaid.
• Abe often tags along on fishing trips especially during his summer vacation.
• The first time Abe meets Mihashi was when the sea prince was caught by a net as he led a school of fish. Whilst Abe was awestruck by meeting a merman, Mihashi was terrified of the consequences. Based on his grandfather's stories, he would be taken by humans and be brutally killed. He wanted to get away and keep his 'abduction' a secret from his short-tempered grandfather. Fortunately, Abe had set him and the caught fish free by opening the net.
• Mihashi never knew there would be such a thing as merciful land walkers, he was afraid but he admired the young man who let him go back home.
